Anti-Skid Treatment, done the right way.
An anti-skid (anti-slip) treatment increases the wet grip of a hard floor without changing how it looks. On stone and porcelain a controlled chemical process micro-etches the surface so it grips a wet shoe or foot; on other surfaces an invisible grip coating or an aggregate additive is used. It is measured — the aim is to move the floor above the safe wet slip-resistance threshold, not to make it rough.
Granite's hardness means it holds a polish for years, but also that restoring it needs finer, harder diamond abrasives than marble and more passes to lift the shine. Its porosity varies hugely by variety — some black granites are nearly sealed by nature, some light ones drink oil — so sealer choice matters.
On granite: Polished granite is one of the worst offenders for a slippery-when-wet bathroom or lobby floor — the mirror finish that makes it look premium is exactly what removes grip. The micro-etch treatment restores wet traction without visibly dulling the polish, so the floor still looks the way it did before.
The process
How granite anti-skid treatment works.
Step 01
Slip test
We measure the current wet slip resistance and identify the material, so the correct treatment and dwell time are used.
Step 02
Clean & mask
The area is deep-cleaned and adjacent surfaces protected.
Step 03
Apply & dwell
The treatment is applied and held for a controlled time — too short and it fails, too long and it dulls the finish — then neutralised and rinsed.
Step 04
Re-test & document
We re-measure to confirm the floor now meets the target, and give you a before/after record.
Why it's worth doing
The result you get.
- ✓Meaningfully reduces wet-floor slip risk — bathrooms, lobbies, ramps, kitchens, poolside
- ✓Invisible — no change to colour, sheen or texture you can see
- ✓Documented before/after slip readings for insurance and compliance
- ✓Works on marble, granite, Kota, porcelain, vitrified tile and more
- ✓Far cheaper than re-laying with a textured floor

Frequently asked questions
Common questions, answered.
Will it make my polished floor look dull?
Applied correctly, no — the process is controlled to raise grip while keeping the finish. Over-application dulls stone, which is exactly why it should be tested and timed, not just poured on.
My granite floor has traffic-lane dullness where the factory polish has worn — can anti-skid treatment fix that?
Yes — that is exactly what anti-skid treatment addresses on granite floor. We confirm the cause on the free site visit and quote the fix in writing. Treat any floor that is dangerous when wet — a bathroom someone has slipped in, a lobby that streams in the monsoon, a ramp, a commercial kitchen, a pool deck, a clinic or a care home where a fall is serious.
How do I keep my granite floor looking good afterwards?
The essentials: clean with pH-neutral stone cleaner and a microfibre mop; blot oil and grease promptly, especially on lighter granites. We leave you a written care plan for the specific finish.
