Care matched to the material.
Mosaic flooring — small cement or marble-chip tiles, common in older Indian houses, staircases and courtyards — has real character once cleaned and polished, but decades of wax, harsh acids and grime usually leave it looking patchy, yellowed and dull rather than showing off its original pattern.
FloorCarePro deep-cleans mosaic floors to strip old wax and residue, then — where the tile allows — polishes with diamond abrasives the same way as terrazzo, bringing back colour and shine without disturbing the surrounding grout or border work.
Our mosaic floor services
Every step, done properly.
Mosaic Deep Cleaning
Deep cleaning is machine-driven — a rotary or orbital scrubber with the correct chemistry lifts years of ground-in grime, detergent film, grease and biological growth that mopping only spreads around.
↗ 02Mosaic Polishing
Polishing removes the worn, dull top layer of a floor and rebuilds a clean, reflective finish.
↗What goes wrong
Common mosaic floor problems.
Mosaic tiles are usually a thin, hard cement-and-chip wear layer, so cleaning has to be firm enough to shift old wax and grime but not so aggressive it eats through the pattern. Marble-chip mosaic responds to the same diamond polishing as terrazzo; plain cement mosaic is mainly a deep-clean-and-reseal job.
Thick, yellowed old wax or varnish trapping dirt underneath
Faded, dull colour that hides the original pattern
Cracked or missing tiles, especially at doorways and stair edges
Efflorescence and damp staining on ground-floor mosaic
Uneven sheen from patchy DIY cleaning attempts over the years
Why it needs a specialist
Not a job for consumer products.
Stripping decades of wax without over-wetting a cement floor, and knowing when a mosaic can safely take a diamond polish versus only a deep clean, takes judgement a generic cleaning crew will not have — get it wrong and thin chip tiles can be ground through.
Keeping it that way
How to look after your mosaic floor.
- ✓Sweep and damp-mop with pH-neutral cleaner — skip acids and bleach
- ✓Avoid wax-based "shine" products; they are what causes the yellowing in the first place
- ✓Address any damp or efflorescence at the source
- ✓Re-polish or re-seal every few years depending on traffic

Frequently asked questions
Common questions, answered.
Why does my floor look dull even though I mop it often?
Usually it is a film of dried detergent plus hard water and fine grime. Mopping adds more of it. A machine scrub with an alkaline stripper removes the film and the shine returns.
How long does floor polishing take?
A typical 1,000–1,500 sq ft home takes one to two days. Floors needing full grinding, or larger commercial areas, take longer. We work room by room so the rest of the space stays usable.
