Care matched to the material.
Terrazzo — marble or granite chips set in cement or resin and ground smooth — is a classic Indian floor, hard-wearing and beautiful when maintained. Decades of foot traffic, old waxes and harsh cleaning leave it dull, yellowed and hazy, and cracks open up along slab joints.
FloorCarePro re-grinds terrazzo with diamond abrasives to cut back to fresh chip and matrix, grouts the pinholes and hairline cracks, then hones and polishes to a deep, glassy shine. Cement-based terrazzo is also densified so the matrix between the chips stops dusting and holds the polish.
Our terrazzo services
Every step, done properly.
What goes wrong
Common terrazzo floor problems.
Terrazzo behaves like the stone it is made of — the marble chips etch with acid, the cement matrix is porous and can dust or crack. It grinds and polishes exactly like a marble floor, with the extra step of filling the matrix and any lost chips.
Dull, yellowed, hazy surface from old wax and acid cleaners
Pin-holes and open matrix that hold dirt
Hairline and structural cracks along joints
Missing chips and patched repairs that stand out
Powdery, dusting matrix on older cement terrazzo
Why it needs a specialist
Not a job for consumer products.
Terrazzo restoration is heavy stone work — planetary grinders, a full grit sequence, matrix grouting and densifying. The reward is that a tired 40-year-old terrazzo floor can come back looking better than a new one, at a fraction of replacement cost — but only with the right machines.
Keeping it that way
How to look after your terrazzo floor.
- ✓pH-neutral cleaner only — the marble chips etch just like solid marble
- ✓Dust-mop daily; grit scratches the polished matrix and chips
- ✓Re-seal / re-polish maintenance coat every few years in busy areas
- ✓Deal with structural cracking and damp before re-grinding

Frequently asked questions
Common questions, answered.
How long does floor polishing take?
A typical 1,000–1,500 sq ft home takes one to two days. Floors needing full grinding, or larger commercial areas, take longer. We work room by room so the rest of the space stays usable.
Can a really badly damaged floor still be restored?
Usually yes. Unless the substrate has failed structurally or a wood wear layer is completely gone, grinding/sanding plus repair can bring almost any stone, terrazzo or timber floor back.
