Wooden floors — solid hardwood, engineered planks and site-finished parquet — wear through their finish, not their timber. The lacquer or oil coat dulls and greys in walkways, gets scratched by grit and pet claws, and eventually lets moisture into the wood, at which point boards cup, gap or blacken.
FloorCarePro sands wooden floors back with dust-controlled belt and orbital machines, repairs damaged boards, and re-finishes with either a hard-wearing PU lacquer or a natural penetrating oil — your choice of sheen. Engineered floors with a thin wear layer are screened and re-coated rather than fully sanded.

Common wooden floor problems.
Wood moves with humidity, so timing and acclimatisation matter, and the wear layer on engineered boards is finite — sand it too many times and there is nothing left. The finish, not the wood, is what you are maintaining; caught early, a re-coat is quick and cheap, left late it becomes a full sand-and-seal.

Not a job for consumer products.
Floor sanding is unforgiving — an untrained hand with a drum sander leaves gouges and chatter marks that only more sanding removes, and each pass eats wear layer you cannot get back. Dust control, edge work, board repairs and finish application all need the proper kit and experience.

How long does floor polishing take?
A typical 1,000–1,500 sq ft home takes one to two days. Floors needing full grinding, or larger commercial areas, take longer. We work room by room so the rest of the space stays usable.
Can a really badly damaged floor still be restored?
Usually yes. Unless the substrate has failed structurally or a wood wear layer is completely gone, grinding/sanding plus repair can bring almost any stone, terrazzo or timber floor back.
